Breeding Basics for Beginners
...and then some

You can find the Pokemon Day Care center in Solaceon town. When you put two compatible pokemon in the day care at the same time they produce eggs. If you talk to the old man standing outside the day care he will give you eggs (while claiming he has no idea how the egg came into existance.. *raised eyebrow*). If you hold the egg long enough while walking around it will hatch and out will come your pokemon.

There are a lot of things you can control with the outcome of what you breed.

Things you can influence are:

  • Nature
by giving the mother (or ditto) an everstone you increase the likelihood of passing on the same nature as the mother (or ditto). See below for a list of natures and their affects
  • IVs
             between 0 and 31
  • Moves
ones learned by TM, HM and Egg moves

The first thing you need to do is figure out what pokemon you want to hatch.   Females pass on the pokemon species while males pass on moves. Both the father and the mother pass on some of their IVs. I'll explain more on what an IV is later. If you want to hatch a pokemon of a specific nature you'll want to find a mom with the same nature and give have her hold an everstone. This increases the likelihood of the

Some moves are what you call 'egg moves' and can not be learned by tm or naturally. You have to have a male breed with the female pokemon you want to have the egg moves in order to pass them on.

Keep about 26 berries around.. Feed them to it then battle it once and it should evolve.

Use one of the berries that lowers EVs and ups happiness.

I just finished some breeding for a Dugtrio, it's not great, but it'll work.  After that, i'm going to Ev train the Zubat Ima breed for me, and then I'll work on a new breeding project .

I would try breeding, if I had the time, patience, and Pokemon for it. *sigh* How am I ever supposed to get anything good in a trade when I'm not as good a breeder as everyone else?

I've got some clones of my own breeds I can get you. I'll make a list of what I've got that you can choose one from later when I pop open my game.

I'm back and breeding again. Pokemon, that is ;P No more cuccos.

If any of you guys need help with parents for breeding projects let me know and I'll see if I have anything that could help you.

Edit: I have this MALE togepi free for the first person who wants it: 1)  31  31  30  31  xx  xx

It has these moves: charm, nasty plot, baton pass, double-edge.

Great for flying or fairy group breeding once you've evolved it to togetic.
