I think anyone who plays a game or games on an average of 3 times per week could be considered a gamer. If a person just plays one game since they really like it, then they are still a gamer. Being a gamer, to me, is based on how much gaming they actually do rather than the variety of games that they have or have not experienced. If someone tries to hide that they are a gamer, so what...There are plenty of people in this world who will try and hide something that they think will be percieved negatively by society. I also do not think knowing about Mario. Metroid, Zelda and whatever else is essential to being a gamer at all. If they play games often, then they are a gamer. It does not matter what series they know of.
