Man, I've been waiting for this for atleast 2 years, and its finally being revealed to the public. Animal Crossing: City Folk has everything that you'd expect to see from Wild World, but there is also a new area called the city. That is where all of the shops reside, as well as many new shops. It will also come packaged with a special microphone called the WiiSpeak that you can put on your tv and use to talk with anyone you're playing with online, as can anyone else in the room with you. Animal Crossing: City Folk is slated to come out at the end of this year, and I am defenitely looking foward to it.

I'm not sure myself, since I haven't looked it up, but I've read others saying that the mic is -NOT- packaged with the game...and I doubt they'd just assume that really.  Either way, I doubt I'd use the mic since most likely, I'd rather use that kind of mic with friends or family who wouldn't be surprised to hear other people's voices off the TV or in my room....but with people I only know online, it would be throwing away any sense of privacy.  I WILL say that if I was a parent, or if I DID have friends/family in real life who would actually buy this sort of thing, that it would be pretty cool.....it really is the Nintendo-y kind of thing to do...rather than being a seclusive device that shuts other people out, and brings strange people in, it practically connects the whole room, and anyone on either side can communicate at will.  Seriously, both on the protective side, and in the all-inclusive everybody-plays side, it's the very Nintendo-y kind of thing you'd expect.

That said, like I mentioned in the E3 thread, I just feel like this game doesn't provide the same homely, fresh/woodsy/peaceful atmosphere that the first game did.  Mostly, I'm irritated by the fact that they kept the same spherical-world pop-up presentation of the DS game.  That worked on the DS for two reasons: the hardware made it workable and well-suited for it to be that way, and because you had two screens, the bottom-screen was just about as flat as the GCN game's top-down perspective, which made it relatively normal.  But on the Wii, both sky and land are placed on the same screen, which is nowhere near as tall as the DS's two screens, and it just seems like a lame rip-off of their own game, as if the spherical world was so important that it had to be included.  Like I mentioned, I want interesting terrain to explore, like cliffs, valleys, forgotten clearings amongst a forest of pine....that sorta thing.  But for now, it just looks like another flat land like the DS game.

Also, it seems like the thing they implied from the beginning, the idea that WC24 could allow a user to visit another town while the Wii it resides on was in Standby, was never once mentioned at their briefing, which does seem to reinforce the thought that it's just not there at all.  Not 100% necessary, but I did kind of want that.  But that also pretty much puts a damper on the idea of what WC24 was.  I mean I'm glad WC24 doesn't automatically update my Wii seeing as what happened from the very FIRST update that bricked some Wiis, but the thought of it adding new levels or weapons to your games because Nintendo sent them to you in your sleep is also gone(not that it makes much sense what with 512MB of space, but still).

And this will be the second AC game with no included 'Virtual Console'...I guess that means it should be the norm by now, but I WAS kind of secretly hoping that they'd at least incorporate your current VC collection into AC somehow, just for old times sake.

Well, despite all of the negatives I've listed, I actually do like the thought of the game, I just think there are a lot of missed opportunites, or possible information not-yet-released that would definately be nice to have.  Either way I'll still keep up with it, but it's very dependant on me having more than enough money by then to decide to buy it at all.

I just think that the whole acre thing in the original made the game alot more complicated than it should have been. Thats why im glad they took it out in the new games.

Oh, and apparently the hills and ridges from the original game are back. They are seen in this video.

Ah hahhhhh~!  Okay, I'm happy now.  (Complete turn-around, 100---err, 80%-ish.)  Seriously, that does look a bit better, although it's not the more complex terrain I'd been hoping for.  Still not sure about the spherical-world thing though.

I just prefer the spherical world because the acres were so annoying...it made things so complicated. And I also dont think that'd work out too well with wi-fi, itd slow things down too much.

I'm a huge Animal Crossing fan, and I'm very much excited for the next game. I don't have much to complain about really. I've seen videos and screenshots and I'm happy that somethings are back. In truth, I think this game is a mix between the GCN and DS version, something I actually expected it to be. It's nice that the terrain and stuff is included. I liked separating stuff in my town by terrain. The videos I saw also confirmed Halloween and New Years. Since Halloween is there, i really hope the other holidays are included. I really miss that from the GCN version. The DS version was boring in terms of special events because the only events they had were the fishing and bug catching stuff.

The city Idea is okay. It's nice that all the businesses are centralized, i never really liked them being in random places. They didn't have much aesthetic value Either way, I'm happy for the new AC, and it really is everything i expected it to be (showing my hopes weren't that high )

Correction, they've just announced that the microphone will be sold on it's own for 29.99. 30 bucks for a microphone that sits on top of the TV? They better darn well make it a good one, otherwise the mic will pick up everything in the room but the speaker and be a nightmare.

Ranting of the microphone aside, I'm very excited about this. I've been wanting this since day one of my Wii and it would be perfect for the casual approach I have towards it.

I'm personally stoked for this game, and it's my number 1 reason to own a Wii right now.

I hope they load in a lot of new events and items and the such, otherwise it will feel too much like the same old game.

I also believe that there is a theatre in the city, after seeing this...

Can you tell I'm a little excited... :X

I can't wait!

The only thing that is bugging me right now is the whole mic thing. I don't like it being a whole room thing. It's inconvenient. Have you ever been around children? THEY'RE LOUD. Well, I'm sure I'll get the mic and I'm sure I'll enjoy it but hopefully I won't blast the speakers/ears out of the people we voice chat with.

One thing I'm glad about the mic NOT being included, is that they did seem to hint that USB keyboards(including the wireless-USB keyboard Logitech made specifically for Wii) would work for it too, and I think I'd rather use a keyboard at this point.  So they at least give you the option to decide.

I think I heard that the high price is somehow because they specifically made it so that you can place it on your TV, and it won't pick up feedback somehow.  And maybe to help clearly pick up anyone within range.

Yeah Hen, that does seem like a downside when you put it that way.

I still wanna do wi-fi Wild World with ya, we never got the chance.

Im also glad that the keyboard is back because I love the emotions...XD Yay for Dr. Shrunk! And sometimes people dont play with volume, like listening to music, so the keyboard would kinda help there.

For the love of god, if there are hotels that can store 16 or more people, please please let it be in so you could have a party in your city!
