 http://www.gamespot.com/news/blogs/sidebar/909182374/26738230/electronic-gaming-monthly-shutting-down.html

Well it seems that Electronic Gaming Monthly will be seeing the end of its run with its January issue. I must say that this news saddens me. EGM has been the gaming publication that I have read faithfully for the past fifteen years. I always appreciated the editors at EGM for their unbiased, honest reviews of games and game systems.
Also commendable was the fact that EGM did not give in to pressure from game companies to promote one game or system over another, like in EGM issue #218 when the pubication had to change an article intented to be a comparison between Rock Band and GH3 because they refused to meet the demands of executives behind the GH franchise.
Did anyone else read EGM and if so will you miss it?

Not a fan, but I believe this is a sign of yet to come. Soon other game magazines will close. Yes, I'm looking at you Nintendo Power.

I never like EGM...  But it is pretty sad that they're stopping publication.

If you're a fan of the podcasts, as I was, you'll want to check out there latest projects. Rebel.fm is a rebirth of 1up.fm and there's another one called Geekbox I believe? I'll have to double check my twitter.

I doubt Nintendo Power is in any trouble.  Magazines are still a pretty casual element.  While the internet is more accessible, I don't see the majority of the casual attention Nintendo's getting feeling like going to realms of the hardcore fan's forums and game sites for information.  Maybe Nintendo.com, but not so much to put NP in trouble.

Actually, if I remember right, the company in charge of Nintendo Power, along with several other magazines, announced they're doing quite well right now.

Though, personally, Nintendo Power's been dead to me personally since the transfer.

My friend read it. I guess he'll be a little upset.

It was, in my opinion, the best gaming magazine available.
