If you actually read into the patent a bit, it really, really begins to look like plans for the next Zelda game.

The basic outline is that the game this is for will have three main parts:

The Game: playing through it normally (it now mentions a hint system, perhaps akin to the Metroid Prime series?)
The Digest: A computer-generated view of the main gameplay and plot points of the game, which you can take over and play at any time (there is no saving in this mode)
and the Scene Menu: like a DVD scene menu, you can jump to any part of the game (that you've already played, I would imagine. Replaying Zelda bosses on command? WIN!)

Some good dissection of it in this thread if you want to read further:

This is a great idea, I think. It makes the game more accessible to non-"core" gamers and doesn't remove the difficulty the rest of the series has. It would even be possible to start putting in some ridiculously hard puzzles because of the hints and those "approach movies" that let you view how other players tackled things.

All games are overhyped. Even the ones that don't deserve any hype whatsoever

Well. Mostly. All.

First party ones at least!

Can't wait to find out more info!
