Half enjoys Disgaea more than I do. While I enjoyed the characters and plot from the first part of the saga, I found the second one to be lacking in plot, characters (no, cameos by Flonne and Laharl don't count), and it seemed boring to me.

I like the art style, and the battle system is pretty sweet, but without a decent plot, a game that intricate is lacking.

Fan of it? I've got both of them and am playing through the first one! Yes, I even got the first one late when it was supposedly hard to find and went on eBay for an insane amount of money, fortunately a EBGames had a copy for 30.

Seriously, I'm surprised i haven't heard of this game till Heidi introduced it to me. The wacky, dark humor is fantastic and suits me perfectly. Then again, I'm the guy who grew up loving The Addams Family and Beatle Juice. I'm no good at Stratagy RPGs, they usually bore me or get way to advanced. That aside, after sitting down and learning the combat system, I freaking love it and appreciate the little things. Such as being able to lift up your entire team and throw'em to a portal to skip the whole blasted level.

You guys should be on the look out for Soul Nomad & The World Eaters. This game is considered by many the spiritual successor to Disgaea, features a similar dark world that isn't afraid to make fun of itself, and has a over the top combat system.

Watch these videos, they'll do a better job of explaining it then I will;

Official English trailor

Gametrailers.com preview, great source of actual gameplay.
