As if you didn't know.....
final designNintendo had their conference the other night where they announced the 3DS to be released in Japan on Feb. 26, 2011 for 25,000 yen (about $300) in the colors Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black. Not much info for a US release other than sometime in March. The 3DS will come with the charging stand, an AC adapter and a 2GB SD card.
They announced some features including SpotPass (collecting data from the internet while in sleep-mode) and StreetPass (exchanging info with other 3DS's while in sleep-mode). There's also a Mii Studio where you can can create Miis by taking pictures of a face. You can also use the outside camera with the inside camera to take pictures of two people and merge the faces. I dunno if you can make a Mii automatically from this though lol.
While playing a game, you can now pause it and open up the browser to look up GameFaqs or whatever and then continue the game from where you left off. There's an Activity Log where you can find out how many steps you have taken with your 3DS, as well as how often you've played each game etc.
The 3DS will have preinstalled AR (Augmented reality) games and a Virtual Console where you can buy Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. DSi Ware can be transferred to the 3DS. Some classics will be remade for 3D and will also be available for download. Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D and Mega Man Legends 3 Project were announced at the conference. The Last Story will ship in Japan on January 27th. You can see the current Japanese release list here:
