Nippon Ichi Software has just launched the website for the latest game in the Disgaea series, which takes the intense strategy RPG and brings it to the next-generation on the PlayStation 3. The new site contains some screenshots, character and story info, and a whole lot of indecipherable squiggly lines in place of words. Those of you who read squiggly may feel free to translate anything pertinent for us in the comments section, as our normal squiggle-translator is in Squiggle-land.

---

I'm not a huge fan of Disgaea. The first one was great, and the second one was disappointing. However, I know some of you are. Never the less, Nippon Ichi is giving the world a first look - you just won't know what the hell is going on unless you read Japanese.

I'm surprised they haven't updated the graphics a bit. I know it's trademark to the series, but with all of the PS3's power, you think something would change.

Any thoughts?

I swear, this the only title that makes me WANT to buy a PS3. Even though they're 600 freakin bucks.

Mauled? Ow. Oh, and I guess I better start winking.

The only one that I'm really looking forward to Metal Gear Solid 4 - the only game I'd need a PS3 for. But I'm not buying one just for one game.

Anyway, hopefully this Disgaea will have a storyline like the first.

Ok *takes a breath*

Now that I've gotten that out of my system..

I *really* hope they'll port it to the Wii. It makes sense to me to do so, after all they won't sell many copies on the PS3. People who buy the PS3 are interested in stuff all being awesome graphics n junk-plus not many people have a ps3, and D3 is one of those super fun games that isn't super eye catching. I like its style and quality just fine. But you know what I mean.

Remind me why again a game like this is coming to the Playstation 3 and not to the Wii? Is the Playstation still considered the home base for RPGs in Japan, much like the Playstation 2 and 1 was? I figured the amazing sales of the Wii and DS, plus Dragon Quest having it's next installment on the DS would have changed things up a bit.

I normally wouldn't care, it's just I don't see a game like this pushing any current system to it's limits. It's not like this is Square Enix or something, who push the graphical limits with there games. Unless they're using uber high quality rendering on the cinematics, which is a freaking waste when you consider it goes to something different for in game graphics, and they could just do an animated sequence.

I am right there with you on those feelings, pritty.

I'm not giving up hope for the wii yet. Resident evil 4 anyone? That was supposed to be GC exclusive wasn't it? And then a bit later... heh

That's Capcom though, I have no clue how NIS works. They might not have enough in the budget to fund a multiplatform release. Then again, if they're so tight on Hell (money), why not bring it to the Wii with the most user base?

Whatever, I'm through. I could rant about this till I'm blue in the face,  , and it won't get me anywhere.

NIS is a true blue Japanese company, and they're going to cater to the Japanese market. The fact that we get the game at all is nothing short of a godsend, especially after how the original tanked (and was then revitalized as a cult classic).

The PS2 was the RPG system then, and I suppose NIS has a sort of loyatly. I wouldn't be surprised to see a port at sometime due to the lack of PS3 success worldwide, but I don't see it coming anytime soon.

Right Ww4, so now it's a waiting game.

Whichever comes first: Price of PS3 dropping or Wii port- I'll be getting this game.
