Seriously, where is our awesome surprise? We've all been awaiting it. According to my clock, Nintendo's got 2 hours and ten minutes to send out some sort of massive Wii update.
I have noticed a few minimal changes -
- A baseball cap on the Mii Channel - Holding B on your Wii Remote acts like shift on an on-screen keyboard (except Opera).
But is there any big surprise? Maybe I missed it? What do you think?

Why are we expecting a big surprise?
It had been going around NSider for awhile. Sure enough, Reggie did talk about it in a video interview or two. I bet the September Surprise was this. Seriously? I thought that was disappointing, the limitedness of it all (did I just make up a word?). I was hoping for something, with all of the hype.

Nintendo makes up hype. SURPRISE! Yeah, I'd be disappointed if I really expected anything big. I don't know, e3 seemed really stale this year so I doubted they'd pull of anything big. I guess I could still be wrong in a few hours or so . . . STILL, I doubt it. It'll probably be, if anything at all, some self promoting peripheral, again, like the Wii pressure board. Yeah, it's neat, but how many casuals watch e3 coverage? Wouldn't television or net advertising be a better route to get word out about that instead of shrinking the time covered on , well, you know, games?

Nsider is closed, Europe's version of Nsider is closed down, all but one person in the PR department has quit, someone got canned over there blogg, Reggie states that the Wii can't meet holiday demand, and Nintendo Power is now being done by Future Publishing. Nintendo is a corporate business, Surprise!Seriously though, I wasn't expecting anything. You've got to take news and rumors like that with a grain of salt. Plus who knows, Reggie might have known something was coming up in September but it was pushed back, delayed, or even canceled. It might also have been something obvious, like the Manaphy event or Brawl confirming online multiplayer (thank goodness!).

Is it just me, or is everyone avoiding the whole Link's Crossbow Training?
It's possible that whatever he was planning might have been pushed back....but look at it from an executive/non-gamer/business perspective...
Zelda sells well. People think the Wii Remote makes a pretty good FPS game controller. People like FPS games. A "Zapper" attachment is in the works to capitalize on FPS games...
So all those together(from a business standpoint) look like something everyone would love. Not that I DON'T like it, I'm probably one of the few who didn't cry out in terror at Link getting a crossbow....and while I'm not exactly swept off my feet with it, I'm sure it's probably what Reggie expected to be a surprise, and for whatever reason, isn't being liked or cared about by many. *shrug*
Honestly, at this point, I'm just going to sit down so to speak, and wait for Galaxy, wait for Brawl, mayyyyybe pick up BWii or Touch Detective 2 1/2 if it's any good....and there's at least one or two volumes of anime I'm looking at. Otherwise, I'm just gonna put out the possibility of surprise-awesome-things coming out, and just hopefully be happy with what I've got.
Might ....get rid of Dewy's Adventure though....hrmff.

Link getting a crossbow, actually pretty cool.
Link being used a second time to sell a Wii peripheral, this time without even an attempt at anything substantial, that I'm not so happy about. But like you said, Zelda sells. They could package just about anything with that name on it and I'd buy it.

I say screw the whole 'September Surprise' thing. So far the "October Surprise" has been much better. :p

Were you an intellectual member of NSider's Pokémon board? Then go to the Battle Frontier! Or were you perhaps a Fire Emblem board regular? Then in that case, go to the Emblem Memories[/url
