As a consumer, it's your right to know that when you purchase a product, you are getting the product you wanted.
Now, if you're buying Guitar Hero III for PS2 or Xbox 360, it's time to use that right. According to reports, big stores such as Wal-Mart and Target have been receiving different bundles for both the Xbox 360 and PS2 versions of the game.
If you're purchasing for the Xbox 360, make sure it doesn't have a picture of the XPlorer controller on the front. In that case, you'll be getting the new game with the OLD, wired controller. It'll work, but it's not optimized for the game.
The same goes for the PS2. Many bundles have a picture of the old SG controller rather than the new Kramer guitar. Once again, it'll work, but it won't have the improvements meant for GHIII.
Here's some examples:

However, on the upside, some reports say the bundles with the older controllers are about $10 cheaper.
So, Guitar Heroes - beware! Be sure you're getting the bundle you want before you pick it up!
(Obviously, no problems with the Wii and PS3 versions so far, as this is their first Guitar Hero title).
