Well, after a while of deliberation (and a redirect script instead), we now have a homepage!

For those of you who come here directly using cuccoscratch.com/forum, you may wish to go check out http://cuccoscratch.com !

There's an integration thing for wordpress that's designed for our forum software, so we may be able to put up other stats on the homepage from the forum. Who knows!

Anyhoo, enjoy!!!

Dan,

I'm loving the new design, but there appear to be some technical difficulties:

It's a bit off center. This also caused some of the main text (not shown) to go off into the margin. I don't know if this is just me or if it could end up being a widespread concern.

Yeah... sorry about that.  ashamed;

Keep up the good great excellent work!

It appears lined up perfectly for me in FireFox.

There's a very little difference in the distance margins as they appear in the purple background and text (slightly wider on the right than on the left) but it's still good.

Any chance we can make the ads by google show up at the BOTTOM and not by all of our buttons? Cuz that's like.. super lame.

It lines up for the most part for me.

WW; what browser are you using? I've just logged on from work using IE7 and it's a bit out of line (not as much as that though), but still need to know

Heidi; Ads at the bottom of the page are the least effective ads. Although the space is ther eto put as many ads as I'd like, they won't be effective (if at all) because no one will scroll to the bottom of the page to click, etc. Hence the ads at the top to attempt to draw attention to them and clicks etc. More clicks helps keep this site online. That'll be why there's a bunch of ads on the forum at the top AND bottom, AND in the posts. Maximizes effectiveness. I read up on this, can't you tell?

@Hen

agreed on at least the location of the top ads.  Bad design there.  Not only was it the first thing I saw, it was the first thing I "blergh'd" at.

I dunno where a better place to put them would be as of yet, but definitely not there.

I think they were better grouped off to the side to be honest.  If you cant turn the "title" into an image, not really much can be done about it, so they might work best there.

Dan,
I'm using FireFox. Just updated itself the other day. I checked again this morning, and the tabs still seem off. I dunno why.

Maybe it has to do with your resolution...?  Although I'd assume you were higher than 800x600....I'm in a widescreen 1440x900 and it looks fine to me.

I just tried it in IE7, Firefox, and Opera, and each look fine to me.

Now I know that the last time I tried to use this site on the WII of all things, that when I'd scroll through certain threads, I would somehow get this 'line blur', sort of like an open-aperture time-lapsed shot on a camera...like it wasn't erasing the previous position when it scrolled.  That could be an Opera-Wii-Browser problem, but I've never seen it happen before on any other website using that same browser.  *shrug*  That's not a NECESSARY fix in my book, but just thought I'd mention that.

it's probably a graphics rendering thing on the wii itself. remember the wii doesn't have a powerful a graphics card as your average modern pc does now. and it's built specifically for playing games, not rendering websites and other tools. they were added in as an after-thought since they put wifi in it too. you'll probably find that a handful of other websites will behave in the same way and/or worse. it's not something i'll even look at. for 2 reasons:
1. the number of viewers we have on a wii is minimal.
2. i don't have a wii so i can't replicate the fault and fix it
as for alignment issues, i've checked the alignment on 3 resolutions, 2 of which using 2 different browsers.

it's known to look perfect on:
IE6: 1680x1250
IE7: 1024x768, 1440x900
FF: 1024x768,1280x1024, 1440x900
Opera 9: 1680x1250

minimum res is 1024x768. 800px across is roughly the size of the purple box. then you have to take into account browser borders, margins, etc, which will off-line the tabs & text. any more successfully looking screen res/browser combos welcome

on another side note, anyone tried to leave a comment yet on the comics page? does it work, etc etc?

Looks great.  It certainly has potential to be a great hub.

We should have an Art tab, with a separate page linking to Newest Picture Submitted, and a few Featured Art Selections, chosen by Hen or others.
