Nintendo.com finally got the update. What do you think of it? I like how they show the game release dates at the starting page and news as well.

That's what I missed the most, and I'm glad they put it back. The site reminds me of the Wii for some reason. Nsider is still there, you can still see your screen name on your My Nintendo account.

Well, the My Nintendo accounts are still there, but I don't see any sign of the 'NSider Username' anywhere. My username there was MAGNUS-8M of course, but my "My Nintendo" account, as well as my sign-in name for NSider Forums, is completely different. And they don't match up.. eh, unless I'm just looking in the wrong place, but just at a glance and a decent look-through, I can't find it at all.
I'm not sure I care for it. I have a bad feeling the 'update' to the site was to make it big, and easy for older, or just less "web-savvy" people to access it and get the information off of it.
The tiny little 'webgames' are gone too from what I can see, and although it has a cleaner look, it just looks a lot less personal really. More 'corporate' and iPod/Wii-designed. In fact, that is what I'd say ... it's almost an effort to look like a game company that isn't a game company, sort of like how Sony likes to be viewed(as if it were some kind of sophisticated everyday-use sort of machine, which is what they want by now I'm sure).
I dunno. At this moment I don't *really* like it, I feel it's no excuse for the loss of NSider, and I definately think I won't directly make any use of it unless I have an order to make, etc. In fact, if we DO get the Everybody's Nintendo Channel, from what I've seen that do, I don't think the official Nintendo.com site is really of any use to me at all.
So hopefully this is just a preliminary change, and the 'big changes' for it are still coming, and are going to make a difference at some point..

Magnus, go to "Edit my Profile." It will show your user name and screen name.
Interestingly, even though there are no forums anymore, you still can't change your screen name. They must've started on the new forums.

It is far more aesthetically pleasing than the previous site, but I'm not entirely pleased with it. Number one (figured I'd get this out of the way since I'm the only one who cares), it's still old fashion (meaning they don't use CSS for styling) and it isn't standards complaint.
Next up, take a look at the games section. There's a whole whopping hundred and something games on the page. Now, last time I checked, Nintendo had made far more than one hundred games. They've completely removed all non-Wii/DS content from the website. They don't even have archives of GCN games and I didn't even see the word "N64" anywhere on the site (Gamecube shows up on one section of one page talking about how to buy old stuff). Now, being a huge classic gamer, I don't appreciate Nintendo pretending they don't even exist. They could have at least left the content they already had on the site.
They've also included a page listing retailers that you can purchase Nintendo products at. It's a great idea, but my graphic artist side has a complaint. You should never, ever, under any circumstances (except perhaps a signed note from the President of the company) skew, squish, or otherwise distort the logo of any company. Their page does a good job of that on a handful of them. Last time I checked, Circuit City's logo was a circle, not an oval.
Those are my complaints for now. However, it is a pretty website. I just wish they'd recognize that they've been around for more than 3 years.

Unfortunately, most of the people in charge of the website now probably haven't been. Out with the old, in with the new and all that. Such is life.

Ahhh, there it is, thanks. Huh, that IS interesting. I still kind of doubt they'll do anything, but at least that means stuff would be in place to at least reclaim my user-name if they did return. I wouldn't mind about post count returns if they did what this site and NSider2 have done, in allowing anyone to post pictures and Edit/Delete their posts. As long as it didn't get ABUSED, of course.

That... really wasn't that exciting.
I do like the part about the release dates but otherwise the place doesn't wow me that much. It's nice. *shrug* I do like it better than the previous site.

It looks stagnent, it looks like an even more distanced site from anything community related. It's boring too.
I hate it. Mostly because of Nintendo's ignorance that they don't need a hardcore community. Or a community at all.
I'm tempted to join Microsoft or Sony's forum, just to get my Lithium community fix. <.<

Whoopty doo. They made it the Wii site. Huzzah.
Yeah, not happy with it. I was alive in the generations previous to Wii, not thrilled that we're pretending they don't exist. What's next, the Zelda site only showing info for TP and PH? Well, then maybe TP'd make sense in it's "continuity"
NOT worth the loss of my community Nintendo. Not by a long shot.
