It seems to me that our open registration really wasn't helping us any more. Why you all like this place so much and continue to come is because, in part at least, you appreciate being able to have a more close-knit community. Adding new members by invite only in my opinion helps to foster that community.
If you feel there is someone you'd like to have join- or have a friend ASKING to join, let dan or me know so that we can create their account and email it to them (you'll need to let us know their email for this purpose of course).
As always, I want to hear what you guys feel about this change.
Edit: Per feedback here and with the other staff I went ahead and changed registration to where the person signs up and then waits for an admin to approve their account.

Oh wow. I thought it would be just a matter of when I first joined, when it was just that you couldn't view anything as a guest, and absolutely had to create an account before you could see what was going on.
I think that'll definately make for a closer-knit community though. The only problem is off the top of my head I can't really think of anyone to have join, so I don't think I'd be able to add any more people to it really.

Invite only? I dunno.
If it was invite only, I wouldn't be here. My brother wouldn't be here. Quite a few people wouldn't be here. I'd be stuck over at NSider2.
I'm sure there are still NSider refugees out there (That's who I'm talking about here. I'm all for the art, but I'm not exactly an artist) who would enjoy a community.
I'm sure there are some plain old people who would enjoy a community. Why lock it up? Allow anyone to join, but allow invites also. It'll allow us to expand both ways.

Invites only.
Too much douchebags, such as Round comes in. I have certain problems with specific reasons that I'm not going to share, but yea, I do believe only inviting others will keep this place a better community.

I like the idea of slowly adding new people. Invite only, please.
I really want to get to know the people who already come here, and that gets so much harder with more members. Close-knit is good for this community. That's not impossible with an open board... but already I feel less comfortable posting than before.

I think having admin approving registered accounts is a good way to go. This gives us a chance to welcome anyone, but kind of watch who's coming and still be able to keep that close-knit feel in the community. I'll have to check if there is anyone I could invite here.

All I say is to remember that a few of us (i.e., me, my brother) were lucky to get here. After NSider fell, I happened to find this place by making a DA account. Even better, two of my best friends from NSider were here, but I never would have gotten in if we didn't have open membership.
I say we have an application.

I think an application is too formal... Keeping it with the required admin approval should be fine. If someone clicks on a link from Hen's dA journal or whatever else, they're already a little curious, but an application process seems too pretentious and tends to push people away, especially the shy ones. x_X And if any of us invite someone, we can just PM Hen and let her know we trust the person to be a good community member and all that to give her more peace of mind with the unfamiliar names she lets in.
