Call that number.

"Welcome to Circuit City. If you are calling in regards to the Nintendo Wii gaming system push 1. For all other products and questions please press 2."

*pushes 1*

"Our sales representatives are unable to assist with wii purchases as we are currently out of stock. Visit the game section circuitcity.com updated details thank you for calling, goodbye."

Nintendo Wii gets it's own Number. For Wii push 1. For ALL OTHER PRODUCTS THAT CIRCUIT CITY SELLS push 2.

I mean... damn!

So like.. I find this amazing. WHO KNEW. I mean- I have 2 feelings here. I'm going to talk about the one where I'm amazed that Nintendo is FINALLY doing well again. It makes me such a happy cucco! I hope they make better decisions.....

( at them not producing enough though)

I still think they're doing the best they can....but yeah, just wow.  I could definately see a Gamestop doing that, and surely a Toys R Us, but Circuit City is getting kind of up there.  Now if a Best Buy jumps in on that(since they also have couches and things I think), then that'd really be getting up there... >_>;

The Wii gets its own call number eh? Heh, nifty!

Yep, I think Nintendo has a good thing going. They should be able to keep things rolling fine on their end.
I'm hoping to see a few more things from other developers.

There are plenty of games out there, however I'd almost be sure that there could be much more.

This is Nintendo we're talking about.    The same company that didn't bother coming out with the Super NES in America, and turned what was supposed to be a speck of dirt, into the largest American rival Nintendo ever had. (Genesis).

that's not necessarily the case. i think the reason the wii has it's own number on the autoattendant is because of it's high demand this christmas. if the ps3 was more sought after, it'd be "for ps3 enquiries, press 1, else press 2".
it's not actually saying that nintendo's doing well. it's probably more along the lines of the fact that they're getting a high demand of the wii though the site, and various stock issues. if anything, it's a bad thing that nintendo has it's own line, since it means there's a dedicated department, or message, explaining stock issues. nintendo aren't doing so well to merit most every store being out of stock. if the bigger stores start doing it, nintendo has a problem. it's a bad thing, not good.

an update on the nintendo wii shortage
here in the uk, nintendo have pulled all advertisements from tv for the wii in favour of ds adverts, as they are unable to fulfill stock requirements throughout the uk. they're either selling like hot cakes, or nintendo have a problem... (or both!)

According to GoNintendo, Nintendo DID finally decide to drop advertising for the Wii and more towards the DS for that reason, that they're having a hard time keeping up for the demand.

ACTUALLY, they've also stated that UKers are venturing out all the way to France because apparently they have a slight abundance at the moment.  Which is crazy ... I dunno what sort of distance that'd be comparable to in the US(like, if that was just a couple-of-states distance, or all the way from Canada to Mexico sort of a distance) but that's kinda nuts.

from where I live, france is about a 7-8 hours drive to the south coast, with a 40 min train-ferry journey into france, and then from there to wherever in france. paris i believe is about 3-4 hours drive from calais.
you can actually get a train from london non stop to paris. lasts about 3 hours. not bad eh.
and it wouldn't surprise me that UKers going to france to get hold of one. they really are on short supply here. trying to get a second controller for the one i bought today is really hard. no shortage of people selling them, but they're all out of stock!!

Wow.  Yeah, it was like that for the US a year ago, controllers and especially Classic Controllers and nunchucks(and even point cards) were just *GONE*.  That's part of the reason Wii Play took off so fast back then(and I have no clue why it's still doing well 'cept people are ...blegh), because it includes that extra controller and basically a 10 dollar game.  We have a decent supply of controllers now tho', but we're almost always out of Wii's.  Now and then I would find a stack of them available, but that was a couple months ago(obviously...they're all gone now).

this is what i was talking about
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/electric/20071214/ttc-wii-victim-of-its-own-success-70a53e7_1.html
not good news for nintendo, since sony and microsoft will swoop in with their readily available consoles and people will buy them in place of the wii they once wanted. impulse buying, because it's in stock. when the wii because available again, people won't be able to afford it, since thye already got a new expensive up-to-date console.
come on nintendo, buck up your ideas and get them consoles out the door if you want to see the wii with a future in 2/3 years time...
