I kind of like it, kind of don't. I guess I'm a bit neutral on it. It definitely seems like the "playable for everyone" vibe is definitely what they are going after. However, I hope that's the not the only vibe they are going to go after, as TTL mentioned.
As for the site itself, I think it looks okay. It definitely has the same look and feel as wii.nintendo.com. Of course, "thanks to the success of the Wii and DS" (as the message at the NSider forums says), I guess that's not too much of a surprise. There are slow loading times, which is annoying, but maybe tweaks are still being made to the site and that will go away soon. Or maybe it's just too Flash on it. I don't know.
What I do HATE about the site is the fact anything prior to Wii and DS isn't there, which was touched on in this thread too. I can understand maybe not having everything available for the legacy games, but just a screenshot of the box and a small description goes a long way. After all, there are still many people who collect legacy games, regardless if it's available on VC or not. I'm one of them. I guess we are supposed to feel free to make our own sites or search for others on that too.

It looks like the only way legacy games will make their way onto the nintendo.com page is if it is availabe on VC. That's a little disappointing in my opinion. However, they could have atleast had what the old nintendo.com had, but it is what it is.
NSider was certainly an advertising tool, but to the members (including the NOAs that were there), it was a community. The whole "thanks to the success of Wii and DS" message sometimes makes me feel like "Hey, we're doing great now, and thanks to that, we don't need forums anymore! Thanks for enjoying them while they were there though!" I'm hoping that new forums will arise eventually, but I don't have my hopes set to high. I have a feeling that even if forums were to return, it won't be the same format anyway.
