There are going to be a LOT of displaced Nsiders.
Lets bring the good ones here, shall we? Please help!

I know...this is absolutely insane. o__o What in the world happened? Something's not right...at all. Why would they just tear it down like that? Without any sort of warning at all? This is uncalled for. I think we should all petition NOA and demand our Forums back.
And what about the Brain Age contest? Wasn't that supposed to be in the next Nintendo Power? Dang...<__<
I'm trying to contact via DA any NSiders that may have an account there. It's really tedious, and unfortunately I think I may have lost all permanent contact with some of my friends there. This really sucks....

I know how you feel. I'm trying to find a way to get in contact again, but it may be for nothing. I did send a question email to NOA though. They made this bad and I want information (which I probably won't get)

This is beyond impossible. Nintendo would never close a forum automatically without first announcing it. Remember the old NKC Forums? Nintendo waited at least a week before closing it after it was announced that it was closing on January 15, 2006. This must be a joke.

I suppose they did it without warning to avoid a MASSIVE backlash...kind of the best way to go on their part. But yeah this is very unfortunate...
Maybe battle-frontier can be cuccoscratch's Pokemon affiliate? Eh? :nudge: Eh? :nudge: ;P
I've been trying to contact people I used to know but the worst part is probably how a lot of friends have lost contact with each other...

I'm cool with that steeler. We need to set up an affiliate page on both cuccoscratch and battle-frontier to list eachother.
Bowser, many of the NOAs didnt even know until an hour beforehand. IMO it's all related to them moving their publications n stuff out of Seattle. *sighs*
Oh, and I do reccomend sending an email so they know people really want a forum run by Nintendo.

Dang, that's pretty bad that you and even the NOAs didn't hear about it Hen. Guess this further proves my idea that they're going in a new direction perhaps? I just got done making a long winded post in Chozosactuary, the community that many of us Luminoth Temple members created and joined after it was shut down, and I'd like to share it here to express my views on it. No offense to Heidi or any of the other MODs who tried there best with the community. Between the great posts by the good members being shot to hell and ignored for the fads or rank spammers, the not so great events, and an administrative staff who seems to be unable to get the job done, the place was a bloody mess! Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the administrators and volunteer mods did all they could, but I believe it was rather difficult to do there jobs due to Nintendo's open arms and “Protect the children!” policies. A lot of the problems the community suffered from could easily have been fixed with stricter rules, kicking/banning sprees, and just generally having little tolerance for bull crap. If you even did half of the stuff I've seen a lot of the users get away with in other communities you would have either been smited with the suspension stick, bonked with the ban hammer, or made an example of by several community members as well as administrative staff.
That being said however, I am glad I was a member for as short period of time as I was. I made several friends, joined not one, but two communities with some of the best people I've ever met, and I really enjoyed the good posts I would find every now and then. Rather it was giving more information about the industry, talking about why they love a game so much, or just hearing about like minded gamers expressing there thoughts, there where several pieces of gold in that crap mine, it was just a lot of work and frustration to find it.
I hope they learn from the mistakes with this community and try again in the future, with a bit of a tighter lock down. However, for the reasons mentioned before in this thread (In the thread, people expressed concerns about Nintendo changing for the casual audience and possibly ignoring the hardcore), and considering Nintendo's new direction in games and marketing that they've been taking lately (Alpha moms and grandmas don't post on the Internet folks!) I wouldn't be surprised if they don't wish to venture down that path again. I'm just glad that I'm a part of this community and made the friends that I did, that way I'll always have some Nintendo or just general gaming fans to talk to.

I'm going to go ahead and copy/paste part of my response to someone else's rant about the situation as well...
The problem really was having to deal with a beurocracy.
Andy is the single best advocate Nsider ever had. It's an uphill battle trying to convince Nintendo to give us the things we needed. Andy's my bro, yo, and I've got his back.
Blame beurocracy, not Andy. (or the other mods) (oh except humu and bronsen-blame them, they suck.. uhh.. they suck yucky stuff)

I have a question for you, Hen:
How hard was it for you to bite your tongue with all the FC stuff and external linking? Ever almost snap and say its gone too far? I felt that many times, but it must have been hard to stay so uptight about it.

Yea Cipher, I actually had quite a few conversations with NOA_Jack and some others about it. They don't like it any more than we do. Really. It pissed them off too. What it boiled down to was the fact that their legal department decided it couldn't be done and that was the final word. Bummed me out cuz I like linking to places just as much as the next cucco.. but couldn't

Did you ever make it to the head honcho (Andy)? I just wondered what his opinion on it all was.
