Wii sold the most out of the three consoles last year.

And Guitar Hero is the best-selling video game franchise.

Lots of numbers in there. I thought some of you might be interested in reading the article, too.

This thread isn't to say what company's best or anything. I just thought the article had some fun numbers. With sales like that, it's pretty hard to deny that video games are becoming more acceptable as a form of entertainment.

I just hope that the numbers eventually mean something.  These days, release times between games, especially GOOD games, let alone GREAT games, is really long.  If ever.  Even some games that I was legitimately looking forward to(like, I thought they'd be really good games) turned out to be some that I didn't realllly care for like I did older games from many years back.

Well either way, this definately looks great.  I think the reputation of 'Nintendo = kiddy' is still not going to go away completely any time soon, but it's still nice to know you don't practically have to hide liking Nintendo's machine this generation. ;p

It's great to see Nintendo doing well, but it's starting to feel like they're not earning it.  Yes, they did make a great console and have made great games but their attitude about it starting to disturb me, what with the sort of cold shoulder to the fan niche and more and more corporate decisions.  It's too soon to really call it a problem but I'm a tad worried.

I'm just afraid this might go to their heads.

I think that's great for Nintendo. I'm glad to see that they aren't the underdogs again this generation. Good for them in creating an innovative system and some great games. I think there could be better games made for the "hardcore" gamers, but it is what it is. I'm hoping the Wii is kind of like the DS. For the first year or so the DS was out, it didn't have too many "hardcore" titles, but slowly the gaming library grew to incorporate both casual and hardcore gamers. Hopefully that happens with the Wii as well.

I have a feeling this year PS3 might start to sell better, though. With Blu Ray winning the whole HD format war, the PS3 is actually quite a cheap Blu Ray player and it also happens to be a game system. So, we'll see how that turns out.

I do agree with TTL, though. One of my favorite things about Nintendo is how they had such a strong community for its fans. Now, they are totally going with a more impersonable and strictly business-like approach.
