Heh. I'm mostly constrained because I really don't have very much space in my room. It's much better now than it used to be, both because of that new shelf with the GCN and NES games, and even that shelf with the SNES/N64/etc. games is new as of a couple of years ago. Before that I just had stuff lying all over the place, and it was a complete mess. Hopefully once I get married, and when we get a house, I'll have more space there to spread things out and add and such.
My question: how was Red Alarm as a game? I played it wayyyyyyy back when VB was actually on demo units in Wal-Mart, but of course I never beat it during those times or had much time with it....I always liked it though, and I kind of wish I had a VB to play it on. And what did you think of the VB and the rest of the games overall?
As far as Red Alarm specifically, I did a full review of it a bit back which you can check out
here. I also did a review of the Virtual Boy system as a whole
here, and have reviews of a couple of the other Virtual Boy games on the main listing page
here. Did a FAQ for Wario Land for VB as well, but, that probably wouldn't be too interesting if you don't have the game.
As far as a general condensed version, Red Alarm is a pretty fun game, kind of like Star Fox but with wireframe and such (and much shorter and without much story, and... well, it plays similar to Star Fox anyway). The Virtual Boy as a whole is a very interesting system. Its main drawback is that there simply aren't very many games for the system as a total. Still, of the games that did get released, many of them are very fun, and, I definitely enjoy my system very much. Considering the system and most of the games can be had very cheaply (assuming eBay is an option anyway, otherwise finding one might be a pain), I'd definitely recommend checking one out if you have the chance.
oooo, looks like Terris has MOTHER 3. Major kudos.
Yup. I'd originally held out hope it might come to the US, but, after a while of waiting, I decided I didn't want to wait anymore, and just went ahead and bought it (and Mother 1&2 while I was at it).
My knowledge of Japanese is extremely limited. Basically, I can tell you what the Hiragana/Katakana are (how to read them), but, don't have a clue in the world what 98% of the actual words mean in English, and certainly couldn't form them into any sort of meaningful sentences. So, my first time through, I had to rely on a translation guide to go through it. Once I beat it the first time though, now that I know what to do, I've played through it again on my own just relying on my memory of what to be doing, which has let me spend more time just exploring, since I know where to go once I want to get back on track.
It's, needless to say, an absolutely spectacular game, and I love it very much.
