While it's not like I think about it every moment of the day, I -have- been kind of subtly building up momentum for the game by replaying both the N64 and Gamecube games, even going so far as to delete my Gamecube save and start it all over.

I've only recently gotten myself up to being able to fight off 1 level-9 CPU using Samus, and about 1 level-7/8 with the other characters I'm not quite-as-familiar with.  I'm sure that's not quite as 'interesting' as the experts, who I can only imagine get bored fighting 3 level-9 CPUs, but whatever, I'm not going to throw myself into that and expect to come out on top(it'd just frustrate me to no end I'm sure, and then I'd learn nothing).

At the same time, I'm also gearing up for the game by NOT playing it.  Sure, I blew through the N64 game and steadily unlocked every character but Mewtwo and MRGAW in Melee, but I'm putting it off so that when I get Brawl, it won't suddenly become a 'ugh, I played this game already' sort of feeling.  *shrug*

I almost want to say 'can't believe it's almost here', but y'know what happened the last two times I said that ... >_>;;  So, anyone else have plans or anything to work yourself up to Brawl, or are you just trying to stay away from it up until it releases?

heh...you can't beat lvl9s?

well...you're gonna have a helluva time in brawl. I used to be able to beat three lvl 9 links (in team mode; 1vs3) with luigi (my main) and now in brawl I'm having a tough time beating up three lvl9s in free for all what they added was the defense AI and the predator AI. So, now they actually roll out of harms way and wait for you at the edge of the platform to knock you out.

anyway, not doing much myself, I'm planning on getting in on one of those gamestop tourneys to win me a copy of brawl. Should be interesting what Miami has to offer

Gearing up for Brawl.  Hehe... am I ever.  I've been playing Melee here, and at school -- our college has a Wii in the class room so we all roll our chairs to the TV and duke it out before/after school and at lunch. We are,  in the end fairly even... dragging in people who never played Melee before and having them play at a surprisingly challenging rate.  It's great.  I'm a veteran smasher and as such I can't simply wait for Brawl.  Windows Vista sidebar countdown,  calender marked,  talked about in classes, youtube videos, preordered and so on.

I can't say I'm avoiding Melee to make Brawl seem fresh but more so playing it constantly with my friends and will be noticing how much it changed for better and for worse.    It's really hard to believe it's coming so close!  Another delay would kill me a little inside XD;

  It's just the wait that gets me.  I set myself in such a way that I get nervous just thinking about Brawl... not enough copys, that issue with the Japanese gamers who smoked -- Wii's were unable to read Brawl.  I don't even smoke for gods sake and I shouldn't be pulling my hair out for something like that... (not really pulling I should say XD)

  It's actually embarrassing how much I bring it up or think about it.  Though my friends in class understand quite well lol.  So in the end all together said and done that yes... I am geared up for Brawl but the only thing left and wont be with me until March 9th is the patents for it.  Sure I can mod my Wii and burn a copy of Brawl myself but I would (with my technical luck) ruin my Wii.  It'll be better getting the legit English copy of Brawl anyways...  after all,  two weeks isn't that long of a time anyways.

I think I am going to do the Gamecube thing. Except I won't delete my file. I have 3 other memory cards I can start a file on. It is just that my regular file has almost EVERYTHING on it. Even with 20 coins it is still a 0.00% chance of a new trophy. The only ones I am missing is like the Giga Bowser and Crazy Hand ones.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Basically, I have been practicing with characters that are good, and I don't use often (C. Falcon, Fox, Samus) in battles against lvl. 9s (7s or 8s if I have too). I also did a 99 life battle against a lvl 9 Mario on Battlefield using Fox with the only item being the HomeRun Bat. It was actually really fun. I ended up winning by 28 lives.

Also, I still cant SHHFL to save my life, but since this isn't in Brawl I'm not worried.

@METALCLAY: Yeah, I'm no expert at Smash, that's for sure.  However, surprisingly(to me) I'm MUCH better than I used to be, so that's a plus already.  Also, the last time, once I finished unlocking all of the(easy-to-unlock) characters, I was 'done'...I put the game away and played other stuff, but this time around I kept it in my Wii much longer than I thought I would, and only put it away to keep it fresh.  I never mained with Luigi myself, although there were a few times where I went with him over someone else.  I wouldn't mind getting better with him since I kinda like him better than Mario, but I don't think I'd stick with him too often.

@NEODAFT: WOW, you wins. -_o;  I guess with your worries, I guess I don't mind saying that I'm also worried about it....I don't think I'll be going in for the midnight-tournament, so I'm very worried that SOMEHOW, when I go to pick up the game on Sunday(and probably in the afternoon), that they might have sold my preordered copy already.  I don't know, it's just that one person was a real jerk the last time I was there, and since it's kind of a small town/city, I could totally see them selling my copy to a friend or a desperate customer, so it really bugs me to even think about it.  I'll definately call before I drive out there tho'.

Anyway, sounds like you're really looking forward to it.  o_o;  I have a feeling I'd lose hardcore going up against ya tho..:p

@MBAN: I never did collect trophies much...I mean sure, when I got one I was like 'great, awesome', but I never pursued them really.  That's a lot of coins to use tho'.  I also did a few rounds of 'training with a character I don't know'.  I picked  because the guy on Youtube who does 'Fighter Move Profiles' vidoes, he said that he wasn't quite as good this time around, and was a whole lot slower, so I thought that it might be interesting to try.  Sort of like how Olimar is challenging, except that's an obvious one of course.

I need to try doing the 99-Man vs. thing.  It'd have to be a really interesting pairing though, otherwise it'd probably get boring 28 deaths in..>.>;

I can't really do any of the 'tricks', myself.  So in a way I was kind of glad to hear that wavedashing isn't really there anymore, although I hear some subtle things like "infinite" jumps are starting to pop up, desynching of the Ice Climbers, and a few other things.  I've always had a sort of belief that given good timing and training, even the more simple tactics could still take out someone who's spent hours exploiting every trick they could find.  I kind of doubt it, but it'd be great I think...

Good to hear what other people are doing, thanks.

Ask Feu about my daily prayers and youtube video sabbaticals.

Or how when staring idly at anything (particularly the back of a persons head) I begin to envision a 5 stocked match with little Nintendo characters fighting eachother. Meta Knight always wins by the way. It's a great way to pass the time IMO.

or when the above mentioned name tries to get intimate, I'll continue to talk about planned strategies for all my favorite characters that I have mapped out in my head and will be implementing when the game comes out.(TRUE STORY!) (If you initially thought Meta Knight was getting intimate with me, you're a freak)

I've recently bought a new wireless gamecube controller. I'm trying to break it so so i'll have something comfy to relearn in brawl.

Yes, I am very exited for brawl.  I just read a review on it in Nintendo Power and if I remember correctly they gaved it 10/10 stars!

The thing for me though is if I want to buy Mario Kart Wii or Super Smash Bros Brawl first.  (I only buy like 1 game every couple months)

Thanks for making this post.
