i'm beginning to wonder now what the point of the wii console is now, aside from the funky way you control the games.

team17 released a version of "Worms: A Space Oddity". now, every version of worms i've played in the past, on the pc, amiga, whatever, have all had network/online playability. the only version i've played that hasn't had online support, was for a console that wouldn't go online - ye olde gameboy. it appears though, that this classic multiplayer game no longer has the online playability support that it used to. and this game, apparently, is a wii-only edition. so why oh why are game manufacturers not taking advantage of the wii's heavily marketed online connectivity, wiiconnect24?

i'm starting to think now that wiiconnect24 isn't actually capable of handling as many online games as they're letting on, and that the wii is simply just a gimick with a funky remote control. if it is, then why aren't they pushing the online connectivity for every multiplayer game that's available? hell, even wii sports isn't, their OWN game..that they ship with the console..to help show off it's features. i bet wii fit won't be either.

anyone else get this idea?

i'm not sure of the intended nature of your post, but are you simply just naming games that have online facilities?
including them, i only know of one other, gh3.
if we can only think of 3 games for this console off the top of our heads that have online capabilities, for a console that's been out well over a year, isn't that a bad thing on nintendo's side?
i think in the online playability/availability category, the xbox360 takes home this award hands down. and the wii comes in..last..just before the consoles that don't have online facility in the first place

I just did a quick internet search (less than 1 min.) and was able to find at least 8 games that are available or will be very soon that boast online features.
I believe that the point of the Wii is to offer a gaming experience that is easy for non-gamers to become acclimated to while at the same time offering long-time gamers a new experience. Online features and play are simply something that the Wii offers, not its main attraction.
Iffone is looking for a truly meaty online experience perhaps the XBOX360 would be a wiser choice in consoles.

I do not think the Wii needs to have online for every multiplayer game that is released on the system. What I have come to realize is that the Wii is meant as a "family" console overall, rather than a system for competitive gaming. I'm not saying the Wii has no competitive games, but in general, it's meant for a group to enjoy in the same room in my opinion. I enjoy doing the Island Lap (2P Run) in Wii Fit with my little brother, and sometimes we do try to race each other just for the fun of it. Then I've shared many hours with my little bro on Wii Sports, playing mainly bowling as well as tennis. The Wii is a way for me to spend time with my brother without many conflicts. We love Mario Kart Wii as well. If my step dad and mom were not strict on games, me and him would be playing Brawl together too. Like I said, I think the Wii is meant to be a "family" console.

As for the Wiimote, I am glad that it has been made. It needs to be taken advantage of more though in first party games in my opinion, otherwise the controller is almost as innoviative in console gaming as the touch screen is for handheld games. The problem with the controller is that I feel that it has not been fully discovered by developers, which I hope changes as this year goes on.

the best use i've come across for the wii's remote is (well, 2 uses, one's not for the wii though), is wario ware. that game is utterly hilarious! rayman raving rabbids (the new one even more so) also uses it very well. (the new one even uses the balance board..playing games with your butt..ftw!)

the other use that i mentioned, best if i just post a video of him rather than try and explain how it works.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5s5EvhHy7eQ - interactive whiteboard
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0awjPUkBXOU - finger tracking
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw - head tracking

all in all, very clever! he's probably put the wiimote to more use than nintendo have lol

Then what is its main attraction? Kid friendly games for teenagers? One of the reasons I bought a Wii was for the first party hardcore games like Twilight Princess or Super Mario Galaxy and VC games to remind me of the great times on the SNES, but I also bought it for the hope of great third party games and the hope of a better than GCN system which it is kinda better than the GCN. I still like the Wii I just want more online multiplayer and hardcore games. As a side note what is up with Wii Speak does it actually work well because I am sure that you will get so much background noise because it is a public speaker.

After I got a 360 I was more satisfied with its ability to produce more hardcore games I really like Fallout 3, Fable 2 and Halo 3.
