I've been using Firefox for about two years now and I never had any problems until the summer until 3.5 came out (the one that added a button to add tabs). I started experiencing frequent server errors, web pages weren't loading and passwords weren't saving. I downgraded to the previous version until I finally tried to upgrade to 3.6 and the errors haven't stopped. Now whenever I turn on Firefox I get an error message that says: The procedure entry point IsThreadDesktopComposited could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.dll. Once I click okay Firefox loads. What should I be doing about these issues?

it might be worth completely uninstalling firefox, restarting, and downloading a fresh copy of 3.6 from mozilla's website. it looks like there may? have been an issue with one of the upgrade routines and it missed a file perhaps.
i've not tried 3.6 myself yet, but i've been running 3.5 for months without any problems. chances are maybe these problems are related. give it a try and see what happens.

I just tried what you said, I'm still getting the start-up error, I'll try and see if things are running any better.

google suggests it might not be a firefox thing, but a windows thing caused by firefox doing something wrong, possibly during installation. try this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969155this thread on mozilla's support site confirms that it solves the problem: http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=eu&forumId=1&comments_parentId=378981it suggests that firefox installed a file that only belongs on windows vista, and that for some obscure reason, xp's getting mixed up about it, or that firefox is trying to do something on xp that it can only do on vista perhaps. give it a go and see what happens. |

I followed the instructions and deleted the file, and Firefox starts alright now. However I'm still getting a lot of problem loading page errors. Like when I try to go on here, it says Firefox cannot find the server at cuccoscratch.com.

Maybe you have DNS problems too. Try using these in your PC's DNS settings instead of your router's/default/ISP's:
Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4
They're Google's free public DNS servers. They're quick too. Obviously remember/write down what they were originally incase it doesn't work/make any difference.

I've got a new problem with Wikipedia, I'm running FF 3.6.2, and when I go onto Wikipedias front page and search something I get a server error. I click try again, and it works, but I have to do this everytime I search something on Wikipedia.
